Our name ‘Le Pain Quotidien’ means ‘the daily bread’, and that pretty much says it all. Baking is more than just our bread and butter—it is how we live. The smell of a fresh loaf coming out of the oven. Everyone flocked together at the communal table. That’s what we love most.
Festive breads is a all about getting into the Christmas Spirit in the bakery. We forget calories exist, at least on this course, and we go all out to produce some of the best tasting, visually spectacular, centre piece breads for Christmas.
This course is for adult students and is intended for all those who are interested in basic bread making. The course will provide learners with an opportunity to learn the skills needed in making, baking and finishing breads.
On this introductory course you will learn the basics of bread bakery skills. This course is suitable for beginners and those wanting to refresh their knowledge. You will need to provide your own ingredients; your tutor will advise what is required.
It is a hands on course and throughout the day you will be making a wheat sourdough and a rye sourdough and will be taking one home in a banneton to bake the next day. You will also be taking home our wheat and rye starters to use at home and full recipe sheets.
These skills might cover cake-making or pastry, meringue, working with doughs or mixing up your favourite flavours.
