Teens who demonstrate strong leadership skills and initiative in the bakery may apply to be promoted to Cart Captain. In this role youth earn a pay increase and take leadership in directing youth employee teams, training new youth employees, and managing work assignments.
Cookie Cart teaches life, leadership, and employment skills to teens of color through on-the-job and classroom experiences in nonprofit bakeries. We envision equitable communities where Cookie Cart alumni thrive and lead.
In this 3 month workshop, our students will learn everything that they need to know about bread! You will learn about decorative breads, sweet breads, baguettes, Italian breads, basic baking techniques and more!
Indian curries often steal the limelight, but breads are worthy of celebrity, too! In this class, we'll make three Indian breads. Though they taste vastly different, each has an approachable technique for home cooks.
