Teens who demonstrate strong leadership skills and initiative in the bakery may apply to be promoted to Cart Captain. In this role youth earn a pay increase and take leadership in directing youth employee teams, training new youth employees, and managing work assignments.
Cookie Cart teaches life, leadership, and employment skills to teens of color through on-the-job and classroom experiences in nonprofit bakeries. We envision equitable communities where Cookie Cart alumni thrive and lead.
We're learning to perfect beautiful French pastries for three hours a week, focusing each class on technique and final presentation. Each student will work independently with the best ingredients this side of the pond, from Organic, grass-fed Straus Family Creamery Butter, freshly milled flours.
This summer, we’re offering our five-part Art of Baking & Pastry series for kids ages 8-12!These fun and approachable classes explore the fundamentals of baking and pastry and is taught by our Executive Pastry Chef.
Macaron Workshop is offered by Cucina Bambini. Learn to make our holiday flavored Peppermint Macarons with Buttercream.
The Pastry Series Curriculum ranges from basic topics to more advanced subjects. Students learn through both demonstrative lectures and hands-on lessons in the professional kitchen. Classic Cooking has revised, revamped, and reformed the Curriculum to be as engrossing and exciting as possible.
"Anything is possible as long as you try." Strut on over to the Kidz Can Cook kitchen to make a fabulous Barbie themed menu which will consist of Barbie's Marvelous Milkshakes, Pretty in Pink Cookies, Gorg-tastic Glazed Donuts, and Barbie-licious Chocolate Covered Strawberries.
