Our ballet classes are the core of our dance programs at our studio. Every child begins their time at our studio with ballet training. From the tiniest dancer in “Tiny Tots” through our combo programs, ballet is the discipline to provide posture, grace, coordination, strength and flexibility.
Our ballet classes are the core of our dance programs at our studio. Every child begins their time at our studio with ballet training. From the tiniest dancer in “Tiny Tots” through our combo programs, ballet is the discipline to provide posture, grace, coordination, strength and flexibility.
Our ballet teachers have shared their knowledge at our studio, but also with different sports teams like hockey, football, basketball, figure skating and synchronized swimming! Ballet training really can help any sport!
Our dancers must all take ballet as their first discipline at BSOBAD. Male dancers have options for both our ballet program and specific Male Dance Technique. Our program follows the Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus (RAD) with our ballet team of instructors having participated in these exams from Primary through to their Teachers’ Licentiate with RAD.
Whether you participate in class to have a general body awareness knowledge, or go on to perform as a professional dancer, BSOBAD has the ballet program for you. Three of our students have moved on to professional ballet careers: Jesse Fraser-Zurich Ballet Company, Keaton Leier-Atlanta Ballet Company and Brooklyn Marshall-Dancer in Toronto with many companies.
The training is essential to “dance!” But is the discipline of ballet fun? YES! Teachers provide creative ways for dancers to express themselves while learning fundamental techniques.

Pointe is the most highly disciplined and physically challenging extension of ballet. Only technically proficient upper level students who have mastered the skills of basic and advanced movement will be selected to study pointe work.
Ballet originated in the sixteenth and seventeenth century French courts, and was further developed in England, Italy, and Russia as a concert dance form. Ballet develops strength, posture, flexibility, coordination and focus.
Ballet is often referred to as the “foundation of dance”. Dancers who study ballet are learning technique, terminology, and self-discipline.
Our Ballet program follows The Royal Academy of Dancing (R.A.D.) syllabus. The classes incorporate the traditional study of classical ballet with free movement and character dance.
The structure and discipline of ballet class allow students to develop balance, poise, flexibility and strength, which are necessary for all dance forms. Our ballet classes include both classical and lyrical combinations in order to broaden our student's exposure to different styles of ballet
