Note:
ITD is committed to providing high-quality dance classes in a non-competitive environment. We provide a safe and child-centered environment to encourage our students to explore dance with qualified, nurturing teachers.
We believe that a non competitive environment encourages young people to develop a positive self-image as well as a strong sense of community.
Along with improving coordination skills and developing muscular awareness, we encourage our students to support their peers and develop their individual sense of expression.
We have training programs for the dancer that dreams of a professional career, the recreational dancer that comes to us for fitness and fun, as well as classes for students with special needs.
The highest educational standards are expected from all ITD faculty members. They are lifelong learners who continue to educate themselves through certification programs, teacher-training schools, conferences, and other learning opportunities
Ballet classes are offered by Clark Dance Production. Our recreational programming classes are all taught by experienced, adult instructors with extensive training and education in the field of dance instruction! We take pride in providing quality dance classes for all levels!
Strength, flexibility and grace will lead this ballet technique class as we move through our ballet barre, creative centre practice, strength-building jumps, and classical choreography.
The world’s first ballet school, the Académie royale de danse, was founded there in 1661. It is at the Académie that Pierre Beauchamp invented the five positions of ballet, to which the corresponding arm positions were added in the 19th century.
Pointe does not begin at any specific age or level, but depends on the strength of students. It is a technique associated with Ballet that involves balance and being able to support all of your weight on the tips of fully extended feet.Â
This class will further develop skills and strengthen the necessary muscles and technique to pursue enrolling in future pointe classes.
