North London Dance Centre’s ballet program is highly respected within the City of London and beyond. We follow the esteemed Royal Academy of Dance ballet syllabus, and our classes are taught in accordance with the high standards of The Royal Academy of Dance.
We have three ballet teachers on staff with Registered Teacher Status (RTS) with the Royal Academy of Dance. Class enrollment for all of our ballet classes is limited to a maximum of 12 dancers to ensure adequate individual attention is provided to each dancer.
Join us in celebrating our 23rd season! Established in 1997, North London Dance Centre offers more than 80 classes per week for children and adults at our beautiful studios located at 1055 Sarnia Road, in London, Ontario.
Our recreational and vocational classes are all taught only by qualified and professional instructors, to maintain the high quality of dance instruction we are known for. Our teachers actively work in the arts community as performers, choreographers, and educators, and love sharing their knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm with their students.
En pointe means "on the tip" and is a part of classical ballet technique. Pointe developed from the desire for dancers to appear weightless and has evolved to enable dancers to dance on the tips of their toes for extended periods of time.
Ballet classes offer progressive syllabus and creative movement exploration that contribute to a dancer’s increased coordination, posture and perseverance.
The Ballet Program strives to develop each dancer’s confidence, poise, motivation and self-discipline. The Program is unique in that it also includes intensive studies in modern, contemporary and contemporary-ballet as well as opportunities to train in the Academy's other diverse disciplines.
If taking two ballet lessons per week, the usual age of commencing Pointe is age 12. If taking three ballet lessons or more per week. the usual age of commencing Pointe is age 10.
Ballet is an integral part of dance education, working as the basis for all styles and disciplines. Class consists of barre development work, centre floor exercises, and all aspects of ballet technique.
