This nationally accredited License To Erect, Alter and Dismantle Scaffolding Basic Level course is to provide the underpinning knowledge and skills to perform basic rigging safely.
The basic scaffolding courses have been designed to develop and build knowledge and skills of those who are at entry-level scaffolding.
Scaffolding work involves erecting, altering or dismantling a temporary structure to support a platform from which a person or object could fall more than four metres.
This unit applies to scaffolding work involving:
Modular or pre-fabricated scaffolds
Cantilevered materials hoists with a maximum working load of 500 kg
Ropes
Gin wheels
Safety nets and static lines
Bracket scaffolds (tank and formwork).
Scaffolding work is undertaken in construction and other industries where temporary structures are erected, altered and dismantled.
Please note: Scaffolding courses are only run on demand so may require minimum numbers in order to be run.
Entry Requirements
Basic English language, literacy, and numeracy (This is a Workplace Health and Safety requirement as students are assessed against the Qld State WHS standards to be awarded their licence).
Physical capabilities for being able to dog a load.
Able to wear the safety equipment as per WHS requirements and the Australian standard
A Unique Student Identifier number (USI)- if you don’t have one go to- usi.gov.au
Minimum 18 years of age to complete the end of course closed book WHS Qld written assessment and practical assessment. (Workplace Health and Safety requirement). Please note: you can be 17 and 9 months to go on a logbook.
Provide three forms of approved identification – click here to view valid documents.
Wear closed-in shoes.
Sun protection is also recommended (hat, long-sleeved shirt and pants).
Pass a language, literacy, and numeracy assessment (LLN) if applicable.
Course Details
The High Risk Licence Scaffolding (Basic) (SB) course has training and assessment that is competency based.
The duration of the Scaffolding course depends on the learners’ previous experience, access to a machine, and time availability. The scaffolding courses can be completed as a full course, a logbook course, or as a previous experience course.
Each type, of course, has a different length of course times that are determined by the learner and their experience.
Typically the scaffolding courses lengths are approximately:
Full Course: 5/6 full days. This includes all training, practice and assessment.
Log Book Course: 2x full days. One for formal training and the other to complete the WHS assessment after logbook hours have been completed on the job.
Previous Experience Course: 2x full days. After evidence of previous experience has been supplied.

 This course provides training in the safe operation of a boom-type elevating work platform (boom length 11 metres or more), involving the operation of a telescoping, hinged or articulated device to support a platform to elevate workers, equipment and materials.
