Strongly articulated vocabulary is offered in a welcoming and nurturing class environment, with guidance to understand placement and alignment based on each dancer’s body’s structure.
Dancers are encouraged to visualize energy lines through the body and to focus on where to initiate rotational or traveling force. Clear explanations of Barre and Center-floor vocabulary break down step execution; repetition develops strength and proper execution of steps.
Upper level classes feature increased complexity, weight and direction changes, and introduce more advanced step vocabulary and faster musical tempi.
Peridance Center offers adults dance classes in many styles, including Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap, Body Conditioning, House, Salsa and African Based, in all levels from absolute beginner to Advanced.
Rooted in the Union Square area, in the heart of New York City, Peridance Center is housed in a beautiful landmark building on 126 East 13th Street, featuring spacious, sprung and column-free studios and the KnJ Theater, available for rentals, showcases and performances.
The Center's robust amenities also include a coffee shop. The Center is home to the acclaimed Peridance Contemporary Dance Company and its affiliated Peridance Youth Ensemble.
The School at Peridance offers children dance classes in a nurturing, professional environment. Peridance and it's world-renowned faculty prepares dancers for the continually evolving dance arena through an International F-1 Student Visa Program, 2-year Certificate Program.
Social dance classes are offered in 4-week or 5-week sessions and students should plan to take all four/five weeks since the classes build one on the other
Provides the technical foundation for all dance. It develops coordination, grace, muscle toning, poise, good posture, flexibility, stamina and endurance.
In Ballet level II/Pointe, attention is paid to the proper extension of the legs and shape of the feet, developing movement sequences, port de bras, and balance. Students will see an increase in difficulty in barre and center work. Students will also begin to focus on repetition and retention.
Students will continue to learn basic ballet vocabulary, technique and class structure. There will be continued emphasis on correct posture, positioning and basic steps. Students will focus on developing ballet technique and reinforce their physical strength
