At Whanganui Ballet & Dance Academy we support young children as they start ballet by offering technical correction in a warm, friendly dance environment
The teaching received at an early age in ballet can have a crucial influence on the development of a young dancer. At Whanganui Ballet & Dance Academy we support young children as they start ballet by offering technical correction in a warm, friendly dance environment.
Children are encouraged to sit exams at an early age as this promotes goal setting and encourages friendly competition. Parents are permitted into the studio to watch class at beginner level, and all children are provided with a CD to practise exam work at home.
If parents have any concerns regarding the progress of their children they are encouraged to phone or email the WBDA Director so these concerns can be addressed immediately.
All beginner ballet students take part in our year-end show. This is often the highlight of the year as they experience the stage for the first time and are presented their exam certificates in front of an enthusiastic audience.
Whanganui Ballet & Dance Academy believes in an inclusive, holistic dance environment where young children are given the skills to cope with learning in all situations, as well as developing a lifelong love of dance.
Each stage is as important as the other – more than any other dance form, ballet requires correct technique and patient correction from a trained teacher. After 14 years of training, and have completed a Master of Arts degree at Auckland University, Anna decided to concentrate on a teaching career.
She completed two years of part-time study with Julia Barry studying a course developed by her, based on the Royal Ballet School teachers training program, while at the same time teaching part-time for vocational students at the Auckland Ballet Academy.
Our ballet teachers are highly experienced, passionate and dedicated, so you can be assured that your child is good hands.
Ballet is a formalized style of dance to create expression through movement. At Auckland Academy of Dance, we teach the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabi from Pre School— Solo Seal.
This energetic class consists of foundational jazz dance elements including; counting & timing, directional changing, spotting, body alignment, contractions, isolations, jumps, turns and combinations.
These classes provide your young dancer access to technical and artistic skills of ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance skills taught at an age appropriate level through a fun and creative lens.
Ballet is a great technical foundation for all dance genres.
