Founded by New Zealand Artist, Donna Marée Wilding (known to everyone as DM), Creatively Wild began as a dream to create a welcoming place to nurture creative expression. We first opened in a small basement studio on Dumbo’s Plymouth Street in 2009.
Creatively Wild was the first studio of its kind in the area and offered programming for all ages. Word spread very quickly and as demand grew, the studio grew in scale & now runs out of our gorgeous spacious studio on Water Street.
In Painting class students will learn to master various painting techniques to create stunning textures and forms. They will learn skills such as dry brush, blending, layering, paint sketching, wet painting, layering, patience, and proportions.
We will explore in depth ways to achieve layouts as well as backgound paintings. We will develop a finished portfolio 4-8 final keyshots, Isometric top down location drawings, Prop pages, and Environment pages.
For those with little to no experience, this class will cover essential drawing, including beginning pencil and charcoal, visualizing and perceiving and execution for a final drawing.
If you are always drawn to pick up a pencil, don’t brush off your painting skills! Draw from still life (but really COOL still life), clothed models (sometimes the studio dog) and work from your imagination while learning important stuff like proportion, perspective, composition and hatching/cros...
Students learn drawing techniques in many different mediums. These include but are not limited to pencil, charcoal, chalk and conte crayons on a variety of paper types.
