Carpentry and Joinery Level 1 is aimed at learners looking to progress into site carpentry. Most then progress on to level 2 before entering employment in the industry or an apprenticeship.
Carpentry and Joinery students will learn the basics of wood work fixtures and fittings. We will teach you the health and safety aspects of working in a workshop and on-site as well the proper preparation and maintenance of the tools you will use on a daily basis. You will learn to produce high quality work in a safe environment that encourages creativity.
You will cover core knowledge including: Construction technologies; Technical information; Health and safety; Work related skills such as communication.
You will learn key practical skills including; Using hand and portable power tools; Producing a range of woodworking joints; Cutting techniques; Woodworking techniques used in new construction and repair.
You will also complete the Level 1 Award in Health & Safety in a Construction Environment. This enables you to apply for a Construction Operative card to be able to work on site.

Woodwork Machinery is offered by British Woodworking Federation. The purpose of this Woodworking Portable Power Tools training is to teach candidates to set up, use, maintain and store a range of woodworking portable power tools.
The Woodwork course is designed for both beginners and individuals looking to improve their woodworking skills. This art-focused course will introduce you to the tools and machinery used in a wood workshop, and you will learn various techniques such as joints, marquetry, cutting, and drilling.
This course will allow you to recognise your skills, knowledge and understanding and to demonstrate your competence in a real workplace environment so you can work as a Site Carpenter within the construction industry.
