During the first year of the programme students will work towards Level 1 Carpentry and Joinery. Upon successful completion, you will be able to study at Level 2.
Both of these qualifications have been developed to recognise certain skills and knowledge which are necessary to work in a particular occupation, but which do not cover the full range of competence demanded by NVQs.
After completing the programme and demonstrating competence on site, you may wish to develop your skills further and work towards higher NVQs/ Diplomas in carpentry or joinery.

This practical course is for anyone who has an interest in furniture design and making. No prior woodworking experience is necessary as you’ll be guided step-by-step through the different processes to create your own piece of furniture by an experienced tutor.
This is a one-year programme for learners who wish to pursue a career as a carpenter or joiner in the construction sector. The programme covers the basics of woodwork fixtures and fittings, as well as the health and safety requirements of the industry.
This regular class in spoon carving introduces you to the art of carving with an axe, a knife and a crook knife. By carving a spoon, you can focus on becoming familiar with the tools of the craft without the pressure of knowing what to carve.
Our one-month intermediate course is aimed at anyone wanting to take their woodworking skills to a whole new level. It’s not intended as a pathway into professional woodworking, but will give you the skills and confidence to flourish in your woodworking hobby.
