Contemporary / Lyrical dance is a creative style of expressive dance which combines elements of several dance styles including Modern, Jazz, Lyrical, and Ballet. This style of dance stresses versatility and improvisation, unlike the strict structured nature of ballet.
Contemporary and Lyrical dancers focus on floor work, using gravity as a tool to move their bodies. Classes are available for both recreational and competitive dancers age 9+.
Mission Statement:
Our mission is to instill a great love of dance, while inspiring self-confidence, discipline and respect of oneself and others well having fun!
Our Vision:
Once a dancer always a dancer, dance is something students can come back to during all stages of their life.
The vision for this studio is to create a peaceful, equal opportunity learning environment. We want to constantly stay relevant in the ever changing world of dance and grow and innovate as teachers and dancers.
We want to encourage total health mentally, physically and spiritually by creating an environment that embraces these ideas. We appreciate that the heart of a dancer is born into many different bodies and the love of dance can take on many different styles.
We will develop-well prepared young adults, should they so choose to pursue the arts professionally or are University bound.
In this style, dancers focus on strong technique, natural movement, and emotional expression. These classes promote muscle tone, coordination, body awareness, and inner creativity.Â
Dansons Corps  is a time to become aware, to feel, to create, to express yourself, to let go, to energize yourself, to relax, to play and to dance
Classes will progress at a rate that allow you to grow in strength and refine your technique, with movement and combinations becoming more complex over the session.
These are contemporary technique classes. Students must be enrolled in a minimum of two ballet classes as well as competitive/exam jazz. Placement will be determined by the teacher and students will be notified when they are ready to participate in this class.
In the Junior division, with an emphasis on musical coordination & creativity, spacial & eurythmic concepts are explored. The Intermediate & Senior divisions curriculum consists of Graham, Limon, & Cunningham techniques.
