Children are encouraged to progress at their own pace and can undertake optional examinations at the end of each grade. Ballet is a disciplined style of dance that develops a student's poise, strength, fitness, expression and coordination as well as promoting self-discipline and self-esteem.
Classical Ballet is offered at our Milton and Clayfield locations.
We have beautiful dance studios in two inner-Brisbane locations - Milton & Clayfield.
The Premier Dance Academy was established in 1994 by its principal, Tania Whelan. Prior to this time the Academy was well known as The Sayers Dance Centre.
Tania is a fully registered teacher with the Royal Academy of Dancing (R.A.D) after gaining her Teaching Certificate with Distinction and later her Teaching Diploma.
Our school offers all levels of classical ballet. We are committed to giving our students a good sound classical technique. We encourage the training of classical ballet as it gives all our performers the very best basis for all dance styles.
Following on from the Next Steps programs, Aspirants is developed to be the next stage in learning classical ballet. Unlike Next Steps, Aspirants doesn’t follow a class theme, but follows the structure of a traditional ballet class with barre work and centre practice.
For the little ones, ballet is a fun and magical playground. As children develop and mature, they master techniques to develop them into confident and expressive dancers. Ballet can improve flexibility, strength, agility, coordination and grace
Studying classical ballet develops poise, confidence, coordination, and discipline. Very young dancers attend lessons once a week. Students from Primary (usually age 6) to Grade 5 must attend 2 ballet lessons per week.
Teaching the CSTD Classical Ballet Syllabus, this style will improve grace, coordination and confidence and is the foundation of all kinds of dance. Dancers will be taught exercises and combinations that also increase their musical awareness.
