Jazz Dancers need versiltility, they need to be able to adapt to any and every choreographers style in an instant. If you want to be a jazz dancer you must have a jazz training. Real Jazz is athletic, it’s full of energy and grit.
It’s sweaty and exhausting from the sensuality of Fosse to the strength of A Chorus Line. Lyrical Modern dance, so favoured by many should not be confused as or with Contemporary dance. They are completely different. Lyrical Modern is derived from a fusion of ballet, jazz and contemporary.
The Bristol School of Dancing is the oldest established dance school in the city. Situated in the heart of Clifton, with classes at various other locations around Bristol and North Somerset, we’ve been sharing our love of dance for the past 70 years.

We have students furthering their training at Laine Theatre Arts, Bird College, Performers College, Urdang, ISTD teacher training, Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, The Hammond, Elmhurst Ballet School and the Royal Ballet School.
Current students attend a range of prestigious Associate programmes including Elmhurst Young Dancers, Royal Ballet School Junior Associates and Ballet Cymru.
Jazz classes don’t follow a syllabus, instead featuring a wide variety of modern choreographic styles.
Modern Jazz is the ‘icing on the cake subject’ and all our youngsters look forward to joining these classes as soon as they can. Classes are lively, noisy, energetic and full of fun, everyone wants to do them!
Jazz dance classes are offered by SR Dance Academy. We provide dance classes to children and adults. We offer a safe haven for students to meet new friends, express themselves through dance and overall build self esteem.
Jam Dance’s aim is to teach and inspire their students to develop their technical knowledge and ability as well as instilling confidence and passion for dance and performance.
The teacher adapts the routines to suit individuals so this class is suitable for all levels (except professional level).
