Geelong School of Dance was established in 2009 by the current Director Emily Bradley, From humble beginnings starting with 3 classes on a Monday evening.
Throughout the years GSOD has grown to offer various dance genres and in 2019 opened their brand new purpose-built dance studio with state-of-the-art facilities.
GSOD is known for our spectacular dance concerts, passionate, dedicated, caring Teachers, and providing an innovative and dynamic dance program.
This style provides an extension to the classical technique and students must be enrolled in ballet classes to qualify for training in contemporary at HDA.
In class students will warm up with stretches and strengthening exercises before moving onto dance choreography.
This class emphasizes dynamic, full-body movements that are both energetic and dramatic, based on classical technique. Learn to express yourself through movement while gaining strength and flexibility, as well as learning fun contemporary combinations to a variety of songs.
Students are introduced to movements inspired by many dance cultures ballet, modern dance, Capoeira, martial arts, yoga, contact improvisation and Hip Hop. They gain physical skills and techniques that represent a global cultural perspective.
Contemporary dance is strongly enhanced when students also attend classical ballet and have an understanding of technique and body alignment.
