At Westshore Dance Studios (WDS), our goal is to provide training and development for all who have a desire to dance. As a professional dance school, Westshore Dance Studios offers quality instruction to students of varying ages and ability in a friendly and respectful environment. We offer diversity in dance styles, and provide examinations in the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) for ballet, and the Association of International Dance Teachers (AIDT) for modern jazz and tap
. Students have opportunities to perform in our annual recital and local festivals to demonstrate their dance knowledge, skill, and artistic expression. It is our sincere hope that all dancers who enter our studios will be musically, physically, and creatively inspired to carry a love of dance with them always.
Contemporary is an innovative dance language that draws from many other dance forms and explores the full range of body movement to create a highly expressive and boldly physical style.
Our staff teach a blend of various modern styles based on their personal background, drawing from the Canadian Dance Teacher’s Association syllabus, Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) syllabus, Limon, Graham, Horton, Cunningham, Freestyle, Contemporary and Lyrical.
We believe in educating our students on the importance of being a team and building confidence in themselves and in their teammates.
Both lyrical & Contemporary are a fusion of ballet & jazz technique. Dancers use fluid, continuous & graceful motion to express feelings conveyed through the story & emotion of a piece of music.
From floor to flying! A class of dynamic and organic movement based on the fusion of contemporary Limón, Graham and Horton techniques using weight, path, and space.
