This workshop course has been designed to assist Diversity and Inclusion Officers and HR practitioners in public sector agencies to effectively implement the Action Plans and commence developing their own strategies for meeting this whole of government strategy and initiative.
A diverse and inclusive workforce is critical for the success of the WA public sector. The Public Sector Commission has released a ‘Workforce Diversification and Inclusion Strategy for WA Public Sector Employment 2020-2025′, and six Action Plans for women; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, cultural and linguistically diverse people, youth and people of diverse sexualities and genders.

The business case for diversity and inclusion (D and I)
An introduction to cultural Intelligence (CQ) and strategies to grow CQ
Different dimension of intersectionality
Case studies of D and I
Communication styles
Cultural values
Variations in verbal style

Understanding different cultures/perspectives and sharing this within the agencies
Deeper understanding of the six action plans and their categories
Understanding and applying the role of culture in your role to build connection
Practical tips on what to do and what not to do to be more inclusive
