Digital Photography (Level 1 Award)

Are you interested in learning how to use your digital camera more effectively? This hands-on course will help to develop your understanding of your digital camera, whilst teaching you the basics of framing and composition. It's a great starting point if you wish to become a photographer.

The qualification is aimed at students wishing to develop an understanding of basic photographic processes and will also allow students to understand how to manipulate images.

The course consists of 2 units:

• Unit 1- How to use a camera to capture creative images: You will be taught how to evidence the basic principles of composition and visual awareness to capture a chosen subject using the camera and its accessories. Additionally, you will explore visual results by using different lenses, camera positions and controls, producing a series of images which you will have processed and reviewed.
• Unit 2-Digital Image Manipulation: This unit teaches you how to identify and choose captured images for manipulation. You will be able to describe the hardware and software requirements for image manipulation and understand the associated manipulation techniques. This will enable you to modify, manipulate, and save images, having consideration for image quality. You will process and prepare digitally manipulated images for viewing and be able to evaluate the final images.
