Course Details

For those who wish to work with wood, either as a carpenter or a joiner, as part of their future career.

Units include:

  • health, safety and welfare in construction
  • maintaining and using carpentry and joinery hand tools
  • preparing and using carpentry and joinery portable power tools
  • producing woodworking joints
  • principles of building construction, information and communication.

 

You will complete a minimum of 30 hours of on-the-job experience within the industry and have the opportunity to work on many live projects in the community.

In recent years, carpentry students helped to convert a double-decker bus into a much-needed shelter for local homeless people. You will also benefit from site visits, industry talks and demonstrations from experts.
