Drums – The heartbeat of any band! Every teen imagines themselves as a rock drummer. But many parents fail to see the other educational benefits that drum lessons can provide. When taught properly, drum lessons (like those on any musical instrument) offer a variety of musical skills and opportunities that also cross over into other areas of education.
Isn't drums too loud? – There is no question that drum kit at full volume offers plenty of sound, but this doesn’t mean there are no quiet alternatives. Today modern digital kits offer a very realistic “feel” and sound, but with the added feature of a volume control, noise is less of an issue.
Even with a more traditional acoustic kit, mutes can be place on the drums to cut back on the sound. For most beginner level students however, a practice pad or practice kit is more than sufficient and these tend to be reasonable quiet.
Forte School of Music started in 1993 in Australia when two music educators saw the need for music lessons that were fun as well as educationally sound. The first UK school opened in June 2000 in Cardiff and since opening the demand for lessons has soared with hundreds of music-mad youngsters now regularly attending lessons.
The Forte method puts the emphasis firmly on fun and is designed to build confidence at the same time as teaching new skills.
Learning music at Forte means you will be learning in a dynamic, nurturing, musical environment, filled with enthusiastic people who love music and sharing it with others.
At Forte, you will learn how to understand the language of music. Your musical senses: hearing (aural), feeling for beat & time (rhythm), music reading and writing (theory), will develop along with the knowledge of how all of these combine together to make music. Through your musical development at Forte, you will discover how to express your inner feelings and creativity through music and how to write your own compositions.
Forte offers both class and one-to-one lessons. Learning with others in a family or group is the most natural way for young children to learn. There are many delights and benefits from learning with others in a group at all ages and stages but if a private lesson is preferred, then it is best to wait until your child is at least 7 years of age.
Our private drum lessons are tailored to suit your child’s individual needs and preferences. We create a progressive curriculum that engages your child, hones their skills, creates a solid foundation in terms of technique, music theory knowledge and understanding.
The drums are a lot of fun to play and every rock or pop band needs a drummer!
Learning anything musical is a great choice. Music often makes people happy, whether they're involved passively or actively. If you can learn to play, write, produce or record music, you're basically set (on a positive trajectory) for the rest of your life.
Drums production lessons are offered by Frank's Music School. In his own teaching, Frank’s focus is on CCM Voice Coaching (Contemporary Commercial Music); Contemporary Guitar/Bass Tutoring & Pop, Rock and Jazz Band Training.
Students are introduced to the drum kit and its various components. Good hand and foot coordination is an advantage.
