  • Craig Ryan is the owner / manager of Intuition Music School. Craig started playing drums on paint tins with wooden spoons at the age of 3. He then went on to absolutely annoy his parents and anyone else at the dinner table by tapping away with knife and fork in eager anticipation. From an early age music drew his attention and in particular the sound of the drums. Many hours were spent listening to the radio and records studying every little skip or nuance in the beat. Music captured his imagination and has always been a constant source of inspiration and enjoyment. Craig started his professional career as a drummer at the age of 10 as Lead Drummer in a military band doing Anzac Marches and the like. Then moved onto the full drum kit and started taking lessons from various teachers as well as Studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. After playing in a few original bands around Sydney, Craig had a two year working holiday in England. His first job was playing percussion at Strawberry Sundae, the best Progressive House Club in London at the time then quickly established himself as the House Drummer in a Blues Club in Oxford (The Bullingdon Arms), as well as playing at the local thursday night funk club, parties and whatever else came his way. Whether it was playing with the house band or having to improvise live every week with a guest artist, Craig’s listening skills as a musician developed and allowed him to work in a wide variety of styles from Blues to Rock, Jazz to Funk, Latin to Reggae, Country to Classical and Metal to Mainstream. After getting back to Australia, Craig worked full time as a drummer in various working bands. The Midnight Oil Show, The A-Team, Party Pigs and so on...had loads of fun & loved it! Craig also picked up the Dj bug from playing percussion in London’s Strawberry Sundae and also started to delve into being a professional Disk Jockey. Turns out, being a drummer and mixing beats is a good thing and ended up having three residencies at once. Resident Dj at Bondi Hotel (Saturday night) - 4 years, The Beachcomber Hotel Toukley (Friday night) - 2 years, and The Greenwood Hotel North Sydney New Year's Eve and for R.S.V.P’s Live Functions. Craig has played with Phil Emmanuel, Glen Terry, Andy Thompson, Harry Brus, Gail Page, Dave Longo, Mal Eastic, Dave Bishop, Andrew Toner, Christian Marsh, Paul Robert Burton, Bruce McCumstie, Dr. Goodvibe’s Ed Valk, Wu Pu-Yu, and 2 time Grammy Award winner Howard Levy to name a few..... One of the great benefits of being a musician is you get to create music with other musicians in the recording studio. Sometimes if your lucky, you get to work with some amazing artists and capture a piece of magic that has the power to evoke the listeners imagination and emotions on a very deep level. Being part of that is a great privilege and Craig considers himself very lucky to have had the opportunity to play on different albums with some of the best musicians in the country.
