This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides Learners with the opportunity to develop their fire safety awareness to help ensure that they are keeping themselves and others safe at all times in the workplace. This qualification has been developed to provide an introduction to the basics of fire awareness in the workplace.

This qualification is intended for employees that are required to undertake training in fire awareness at work. the qualification has been developed to meet the training requirements outlined in best practice guidance.

This qualification will help any business or organisation to meet its duties under current fire safety legislation by giving employees essential knowledge about fire safety, helping them to understand how to prevent a fire from starting as well as what actions to take if a fire does break out.

It is ideal for employees undertaking induction training, for those with no specific fire-safety role and also as an introduction for those employees who will be embarking on further fire safety training (for example the Level 2 Award in Fire Safety for Fire Marshals (RQF).

This qualification is typically delivered over 1/2 day. This can also be taken as part of the level 2 qualification.

This qualification is available to those over 14 years. Candidates should be at least a level 1 numeracy and literacy or equivalent.

  • Duties and responsibilities (of both employers and employees as well as fire marshals).
  • Procedures in the event of a fire.
  • Actions that should be taken in the event of a fire.
  • Fire prevention measures.
  • Fire risk management, including risk assessment.
  • The fire triangle.
  • Fire risk control measures (active and passive).
  • Reporting fire safety issues.
  • Portable fire-fighting equipment.
  • Simple checks of portable fire-fighting equipment.
  • Safe evacuation.
