When you come to our site, we have a number of realistic fire scenarios set up. After a short classroom session and demonstration, you’ll be using our extinguishers to fight different classes of fire.
When we come to your site, we have our special F&ST purpose built trailer that opens up to reveal several fire scenarios including a switchboard, an oven, a stovetop and an office scenario.
Training is for a minimum of two hours or up to Unit Standard 3271, depending on your requirements. All extinguishers are supplied. Course numbers are a minimum of 5 to a maximum of 12 people. We offer subsidised training for Community Groups. Please discuss this with us.
Fire & Safety Training Ltd (F&ST) was established in 1998 by Gordon Ireland to provide quality, practical compliance training to industry. Gordon remains the Managing Director and although the business has grown and now employs eight trainers across the Timaru and Napier sites.

We travel to most paces in New Zealand to deliver courses on-site. Our courses are all NZQA approved and can be tailored to your specific needs. We also provide a range of specialist services to support industry.
Courses
Courses include working at height training, confined spaces and gas detection, hazard identification, rescue team training, dangerous goods license endorsement, breathing apparatus, fire extinguisher and evacuation warden training, handling hazardous substances and health and safety representative courses.
Our Trainers
Our trainers are all from industry backgrounds with extensive experience. Courses are lively: our trainers engage course participants with a blend of the required theory and hands-on realistic practical experience.

You have your fire extinguisher – now make sure you know how to use it! To extinguish a fire with a portable extinguisher, a person must be able to access the fire extinguisher, know how to activate the unit and know how to apply the agent effectively – all in the span of a few seconds.
This training is aimed ensuring workplaces are compliant. Department Heads, Section Leaders, Shift Managers and appointed Evacuation Wardens gain an appreciation of the risks of fire and their responsibilities. People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of evacuation requirements for a particular workplace or site, and explain the duties of a Fire and Emergency Warden.
We take fire safety seriously and have invested in the latest equipment, including a live fire simulator tailored for hands-on training. Firewatch Tauranga has been providing business fire protection services for over 30 years, and all courses are led by qualified fire safety technicians.
This course will give you a knowledge and understanding of the duties of a Fire and Emergency Warden in accordance with the law, as well as the practical skills to effectively evacuate the workplace in event of a fire or emergency.
