Fire & Safety Training Ltd (F&ST) was established in 1998 by Gordon Ireland to provide quality, practical compliance training to industry. Gordon remains the Managing Director and although the business has grown and now employs eight trainers across the Timaru and Napier sites.

What do we do
Fire and Safety Training Ltd has been providing compliance training to suit specific industry needs since 1998. Our trainers are specialists with sound industry experience. Purpose built practical training facilities and offices are located in Timaru and Napier.
We travel to most paces in New Zealand to deliver courses on-site. Our courses are all NZQA approved and can be tailored to your specific needs. We also provide a range of specialist services to support industry.
Courses
Courses include working at height training, confined spaces and gas detection, hazard identification, rescue team training, dangerous goods license endorsement, breathing apparatus, fire extinguisher and evacuation warden training, handling hazardous substances and health and safety representative courses.
Our Trainers
Our trainers are all from industry backgrounds with extensive experience. Courses are lively: our trainers engage course participants with a blend of the required theory and hands-on realistic practical experience.

Asbestos is still the biggest single killer in the New Zealand workplace, and we need to be aware of the potential for asbestos in, near, and around workplaces and the plant and equipment in those workplaces.Â
This course is for people who may not directly work with hazardous substances, but need to be aware of the potential adverse effects of hazardous substances that may be on their work site.
This is for people who carry dangerous goods for hire or reward, or carry more than the minimum amount of dangerous goods for their own business or ‘Tools of Trade’. This is Unit standard 16718 and is also ‘D’ on your License Endorsement
This course is aimed at Emergency Response Team members, or staff who may be called on as first responders to an accident or incident, and require skills beyond basic first aid training. It is based around NZQA unit standard 29321 Provide basic emergency care.Â
