Food Safety is the responsibility of everyone who is involved in the storage, preparation, cooking, serving and handling of food.
The topics covered in this award are regarded by the Food Standards Agency as being important to maintaining good practice in the production of safe food.
Assessment & Certification
This qualification is assessed with a 30 question, multiple choice questionnaire which is externally marked. Learners will need to achieve 20 or more correct answers to gain this qualification.
Learners will need to bring with them on the day photographic identification which will be confirmed as seen by the trainer on the day.

The Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering is a qualification aimed at caterers and other food handlers. The qualification is intended for learners already working in catering and those who are preparing to work in the industry.
This Food Safety Course is designed to provide information on all Food safety issues which they will encounter during their working day.
The course covers regulations, preparation, storage, infections, cross contamination, reporting, PPE, date marks, reporting illness and basic first aid in the kitchen.
This is a detailed course that starts with basic definitions, then follows a logical path through other topics including, types of food hazards, personal hygiene, pest control, legislation, enforcement, and the design and cleaning of premises and equipment.
The Level 1 Award in Food Safety in Catering is a qualification intended for learners working in the catering environment in low-risk roles but where there is an element of food handling. This could include bar workers, waiting staff, health care workers, kitchen porters and stock/store room staff.
