The teaching is centred on practical furniture projects suited to the student's level of competence and confidence. A focus of the course is the making of a piece of furniture, which is normally acheived by the end.
The School is a small and specialised teaching workshop, established by Peter Quin, a cabinet-maker and teacher with thirty years' experience.
This one-year course is designed to provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skill to begin your journey to be a qualified Site Carpenter/Bench Joiner. You will also meet key employers in the trade.
Many people want to begin woodwork but need a bench. (How do I build a bench if I do not have a bench on which to build a bench…….) Over the past couple of years we have made a number of “modern benches” to our specific design.
On completion of the Woodwork Foundation Course you will be welcome to develop your woodworking skills further through project work during the daytime or evening classes.
This one-day course will cover the basics of tools and techniques of wood turning, and you’ll go home the proud owner of a simple hand-turned item at the end of the day. For example, you might want to create a garden dibber or a fruit bowl.
