The teaching is centred on practical furniture projects suited to the student's level of competence and confidence. A focus of the course is the making of a piece of furniture, which is normally acheived by the end.
The School is a small and specialised teaching workshop, established by Peter Quin, a cabinet-maker and teacher with thirty years' experience.
Blackhorse Workshop is a social enterprise dedicated to making, offering easy access to a fully equipped wood and metal workshop that’s open to all.
This largely practical programme is for individuals who have a genuine interest in carpentry or joinery and wish to gain employment in the industry. Progression after the programme could be onto Level 2 Carpentry, Advanced Construction Award or employment in the industry; or an Apprenticeship.
This practical course is for anyone who has an interest in furniture design and making. No prior woodworking experience is necessary as you’ll be guided step-by-step through the different processes to create your own piece of furniture by an experienced tutor.
