This two day course gives the opportunity to get to grips with various tools used in green wood working; froe, draw knife, spokeshave, donk, shave horse and carving knives.
Over the weekend you will make yourself a range of beautiful household items including a spatula, gypsy flowers, clothes pegs, coat hooks, your own wooden mallet (donk) and a stool.
Leeds Coppice Workers is a workers co-operative commited to restoring and managaing neglected and underused woodlands in the Leeds area.
We aim to create jobs in Leeds woodlands for our members and to promote the use of locally sourced woodland products within the Leeds area. We also aim to reintegrate local people to their woodlands, show how woodland can be managed in sustainable and ecologically sound ways and to train and share skills in woodland related activities.
We have monthly volunteer days through the winter and run a variety of courses throughout the year. We offer a range of coppice products, firewood and charcoal.
Over the course of a long weekend (Friday – Monday), students receive a good grounding in the basics of woodwork. Â
This elemental two day beginners' course is intended for those new to woodworking or with limited experience.
This course is a great introduction to woodworking. The course is for one day, and you will be using hand and power tools to make this box in solid oak and contrasting top. During the day you will learn cutting, planing, and machining techniques.
We provide woodworking machine training for novice learners, experienced operators and supervisors as well as abrasive wheel and portable power tool courses. All backed by respected quality assurance assessors PIABC
