A firearm is an important tool in police work. It is intended to protect the officer and the public, and therefore it carries significant responsibility. There is almost no margin for error when a firearm is used.
This course will introduce participants to general types of firearms, types of ammunition, ballistics, general safety, storage and transportation. Emphasis will be on the majority of firearms used with BC Law Enforcement General Duty Divisions and Emergency Response Teams and give investigators a clearer sense of the types of weapons in use.

Covers the fundamentals of shooting using a shotgun
The non-restricted firearms safety course (CFSC) is made up of lectures and hands on practical training in the safe handling of non-restricted firearms (typically shotguns and rifles used for hunting and target shooting).
The Canadian Firearm Safety Course (PAL) 8 hours of class time is required, must be completed before the Canadian Restricted Firearm Safety course (RPAL) can be taken. 4 or 6 hours is required.Â
