In the heart of the Brooklyn Cultural District, the Mark Morris Dance Center, founded in 2001, is the hub of dance and music education in Brooklyn. The nine-studio building provides affordable classes in multiple genres for people of all ages, levels, with and without disabilities, accompanied by live music.
The studios, a performance space, a Wellness Center, and ancillary spaces are all available to the community and to nonprofit organizations at subsidized rates. MMDG’s Community Education Programs partner with public and private schools and community centers to provide customized classes.
MMDG also offers customized dance workshops for persons with Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers. MMDG programs in NYC and worldwide engage nearly 100,000 people annually.
This class is a Hip-Hop and R&B inspired class infused with Tara’s sultry style. This class will focus on performing choreography and musicality. You will leave class feeling energized and accomplished!
This class focuses on various hip-hop techniques including popping, locking, and house elements. Students have opportunities to work on their own freestyle abilities. This class builds strength, stamina, and style through contemporary hip-hop movement.
Our Hip-hop class will introduce students to hip hop as a culturally significant form of dance. Students will learn history, social aspects, and fundamental techniques from house, popping and locking to name a few.
Our adult beginner hip-hop, will be a starting class for those who want to try hip-hop but may not have as much as experience. Students will learn basic technique and choreography, and it is a great way to move your way towards confidence in your dance floor moves.Â
Commercial Hip Hop is a collaborative, fun and engaging style of dance!. It’s a comprehensive, integrated approach to the professional dance world, styled for stage, film and television opportunities.
