Students will learn the defining movement concepts of jazz dance including isolations of the body, grounded musicality, improving performance quality and developing a capacity for complex rhythms and movement patterns. Classes include focus on vernacular jazz dance as well as classical jazz techniques and improvisation.

Jazz class consists of an energetic standing warm-up followed by plies (which interprets into a slow, lyrical dance), then upbeat stretching and strengthening while lying on the floor.Â
This is an intermediate level class recommended for students 8-11 years of age. At least 1 year of prior jazz training is required for this class.
