The jazz dance classes at Shore Dance follow the American Jazz Dance Affiliation (A.J.D.A.) syllabus. Students will have the opportunity to sit examinations in August/September.

The syllabus follows ‘safe’ practices with all the exercises structured to reduce the risk of injury. The jazz syllabus fully trains the student in all aspects of basic ballet technique and the dynamics of technique required to encourage performance, style and sheer enjoyment of Dance.”
We teach the Royal Academy of Dance ballet syllabus, American Jazz Dance Affiliation jazz syllabus, and New Zealand Association of Modern Dance tap and contemporary syllabus, offering students the opportunity to sit annual examinations.
Our premises includes two spacious dance studios which can be opened out into one larger space, with polished wooden floors, barres and mirrors. We have a large waiting areas with viewing windows into each studio, as well as a uniform shop on site.
Intro to Dance is a combined Jazz and Ballet class for ages 5 & 6 year olds.
This class teaches students basic jazz techniques such as turns, leaps and jumps whilst combining musicality, stamina and control within the grade progressions. Exams are offered in this subject progressing from junior/beginner level through to teaching qualifications and diplomas.
Jazz is the most popular form of dance in our studio it helps with flexibility, technique and versatility.
Traditionally an extension of ballet, jazz used to be known as “modern ballet”.
