Jazz is a form of modern dance incorporating elements from a broad range of other styles including ballet & Latin. This course is ideal for people who want to improve flexibility, spinning and jumping which are incorporated into the choreography you will learn in the course.

We recommend that jazz exam students from approx grade 3 and up (or earlier) attend a ballet class once a week.
The Chilton Dance Centre training in Modern Jazz is based on the New Zealand Association of Modern Dance (NZAMD) syllabus.
The dance training focuses on a blend of genres packaged into bite-sized combinations.
ATt AMJAZZ we offer the American Jazz Dance Affiliation (AJDA) syllabus from Intro 1 to Advanced Solo-Seal. Both male and female dancers can enrol from the age of 6 years. Adult classes for beginners or adults returning to dance are also available
From age five, this syllabus progresses to teach dancers a wide variety of jazz styles to popular music.
