Students are challenged by the aspects of jazz and theatrical dance whilst enjoying funky and fun movement to upbeat music.
The Academy offers a unique learning environment and is not just a ‘dancing school’ – it is a place where everyone involved is focused on the happiness and development of all students through dance education, experiences and opportunities whilst building the foundations of friendship, confidence and a bright future.
The Academy has classes, programs and opportunities for the beginner and/or hobby student through to the elite aspiring dancer.
In 2019 The Academy was the Winner of the Commerce Ballarat Federation Business School Creative Industries Business Excellence Award and was also a Finalist the previous year.
The Academy’s teaching faculty provides a harmonious blend of youth, enthusiasm, experience and dedication which collaborate to ensure every student is nurtured and provided a quality level of training. Faculty members include professional dancers and highly qualified and experienced artists.
A Jazz Class starts with a warm-up, then technical work including kicks, leaps and turns are done from the corner, finishing the class with choreography.
A high energy class focusing on Jazz style dance. Learning basic techniques of jazz, while maintaining the fun fairy class atmosphere.
Jazz is constantly evolving and it reflects many techniques and styles. Students will learn the fundamentals and creativity of this popular dance style. Routines and classes are based around the latest music video hits.
Involves a range of lively, upbeat & sassy movements. A few key features include kicks, jumps, isolations & body rolls. The dance is a poem of which each movement is a word.
Students are placed into a Theatrical class based on their age. All theatrical classes perform at the Southern Tasmanian Dancing Eisteddfod and our End of Year concert.
