Korean Language Course Levels

Non-native Korean speakers may take the TOPIK, or Test of Proficiency in Korean, to demonstrate their proficiency in the language. Each year, the test is administered six times to provide sufficient preparation time. (in January, April, May, July, October, and November) inside Korea and less often to those learning Korean in other countries.

The exam is for those whose first language is not Korean, and it is taken by ethnic Koreans abroad, those who want to study at a Korean university, and those who want to work for Korean enterprises in and outside of Korea. TOPIK has been managed by the National Institute for International Education [ko] (NIIED), a division of South Korea’s Ministry of Education, since 2011.
