We are pleased to bring this new and improved certification program, structured to maintain high certification standards and streamlined to be more convenient and accessible.
Valid-8 is the new software solution for delivering technician certification under the LHCP.
The application facilitates online, hands-on delivery. Written testing will be administered through an alternative online platform (Mettl) for all designations, thereby making certification more accessible and convenient.

The Landscape Horticulture Certification program website offers a Certified Directory, listing individuals and company by designation and province. Those previously certified have been awarded equivalent designations under the Landscape Horticulture Certification Program.

Designations
The Landscape Horticulture Certification Program offers certification for the following designations:
Certified Landscape Horticulturist Technicians can be found in many sectors of the landscape industry including Landscape Maintenance, Landscape Installation (construction), Retail Garden Centres, and Interior Landscaping.
The Certified Landscape Horticulture Manager (CLHM) is an industry-developed designation that sets and maintains standards for business management in the nursery and landscape industry.
The Certified Landscape Designer (CLD) program establishes education and professional pre-requirements for undertaking a certification process, comprised of written exams and a portfolio review process, that ensure candidates who earn the designation have achieved a high level of proficiency and expertise in landscape design.
The Accredited Landscape Horticulture Company designation is designed for companies that prioritize certification as a cornerstone of their business, conduct their business affairs responsibly, value community and customer relations, and maintain high standards of workmanship and environmental stewardship in residential and commercial settings.
Founded in 1957, Landscape Alberta Nursery Trades Association is a non-profit organization supporting and representing the landscape horticulture industry in Alberta.
Our members are recognized as business leaders who have demonstrated their competence, integrity and fairness in dealing with the public.
Our mission – to be an effective organization in providing members with opportunities to improve their practices, and by addressing their issues and needs to the benefit of the entire industry.

The program covers a broad spectrum of horticultural practices including plant propagation techniques, greenhouse production, nursery crop production, landscape design, landscape construction, and plant identification.
This apprenticeship program is designed to provide individuals working in the industry, who want to pursue a career in horticulture, with theoretical principles and practical trade skills developed by industry to become a recognized horticultural technician.
This program trains individuals to work in the ornamental horticulture service industry
The Specialization in Plant production will provide you with a strong foundation of knowledge and skills relating to the biology and physiology, breeding, propagation, and management of domesticated plants.
This apprenticeship program covers the required in-class training for the Horticultural Technician trade.
