We offer Latin American dance classes for beginners to advanced. These dances include Cha Cha, Mambo, Rumba, Samba etc.
These lessons are one-on-one. You will have a personal coach with you every step of the way.
The Dance Palace was built exclusively for the purpose of a dance studio in 1997 with a sprung floor and high ceilings. Only a few of these wooden microcorus floors exist in South Africa.
Although we teach Ballroom and Latin Mondays through Fridays we are proudly South African and on Saturdays we have “lang-arm” dances till way into the night! Resident DJ’s or live bands provide the music.
Many well known South African bands have performed at The Dance Palace through the years. The Dance Palace was also used in several movies, music videos and National Adverts. The Dance Palace is one of Gauteng’s Premier dance venues. Come alone or with a partner and see for yourself.
Samba Dance Lessons are offered by Phoenix Dance Company for all ages and skill levels. Whether you are with or without a dance partner, in our private dance lessons, you will receive one-on-one personalized instruction from your teacher according to your interests, needs and goals.
Samba is a very rhythmical dance that has its origins in Brazilian samba. This dance style is both fun and fast with lots of hip action. It is usually done by higher level dancers as the technique required to make it look good is incredibly difficult, but so worth it at the end.
Brazilian of origin, and popularised by the dancers at the Rio Carnival two styles of samba exist, the ballroom style being more progressive by nature and the Brazilian style being more static. Both styles however are dominated by sultry, sexy moves.
