Our Construction qualifications are aimed at people wishing to learn some skills within the sector, to progress on to becoming skilled in teir chosen trade, or to progress through an apprenticeship and work towards becoming a master craftsman.
Level 1 introduces the learner to carpentry and joinery skills. It allows candidates to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in Carpentry or Joinery.
Who Is This Course For?
The Level 1 Diploma is aimed at learners who work or want to work in the construction industry and specialise in working with wood. We offer two trade areas within this course range: Site Carpentry and Architectural Joinery.
Learning Outcomes
This course covers the following basic skills: producing basic woodworking joints, and safely using various hand and power tools. Learners must achieve 5 mandatory units:
Principles of construction, information and communication
Maintain and use Carpentry and Joinery hand tools
Prepare and use Carpentry and Joinery portable power tools
Produce woodworking joints
Health, safety and welfare in construction

This elemental two day beginners' course is intended for those new to woodworking or with limited experience.
This course is a great introduction to woodworking. The course is for one day, and you will be using hand and power tools to make this box in solid oak and contrasting top. During the day you will learn cutting, planing, and machining techniques.
We provide woodworking machine training for novice learners, experienced operators and supervisors as well as abrasive wheel and portable power tool courses. All backed by respected quality assurance assessors PIABC
