What is a Pre-Apprenticeships (also known as a Study Programmes)
A pre-apprenticeship is a course designed for 16-18 year olds who want to progress onto an
apprenticeship but don’t feel quite ready. A Pre-Apprenticeship will help you develop essential skills, gain industry-specific knowledge, and become more employable.
What does the course cover?
This Pre-apprenticeship covers:
Health, safety and welfare in construction
Principles of building construction, information and communication
You will learn how to:
carry out first fix flooring and roofing
carry out first fix frames, partitions and stairs
carry out second fixing operations
carry out carpentry maintenance
set up and operate a circular saw
What will I achieve?
On successful completion, you will achieve a City & Guilds Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery.
What are the entry requirements?
You must achieve or have achieved a GCSE Grade 2 or above in maths and English.

This elemental two day beginners' course is intended for those new to woodworking or with limited experience.
This course is a great introduction to woodworking. The course is for one day, and you will be using hand and power tools to make this box in solid oak and contrasting top. During the day you will learn cutting, planing, and machining techniques.
We provide woodworking machine training for novice learners, experienced operators and supervisors as well as abrasive wheel and portable power tool courses. All backed by respected quality assurance assessors PIABC
