This is an exciting course aimed at those who wish to specialise in the creative field of hair and media Makeup Artistry. This course will develop your creative skills to prepare you in readiness for a career in this competitive industry, this could lead to working within tv, film theatre.
You will be developed by our highly specialised and industry experienced Make-up Artist Tutors and you will study a wide range of make-up looks, hair styles and techniques.
You will also study the context and history of hair and makeup fashions and trends, and learn how to plan for creative makeup artistry briefs that you may need to respond to in the workplace. You will cover topics from the following list:
Fashion and photographic make-up
Media make-up creative hair design
Create historical hair and make-up looks
Apply body art
Camouflage make-up
Cutting and styling hair for performers
Specialist bridal hair and make-up
Avant-garde hair and make-up
Working in the film, TV and theatre industry

The creation and presentation of a look book and industry portfolio
The Makeup Studio at our Gloucester Campus offers learners the chance to train in facilities which are industry standard and will enable you to develop your skills in consultation, customer service and current trends and techniques to ensure you are equipped with the skills that the industry needs, giving you the confidence to give pre and after treatment/service advice, using a variety of professional makeup brands.
Throughout your training programme you will be required to practise your skills on your peers to develop your skills and you may take clients to gain the widest possible range of experiences and employability skills.
Students are expected to source their own models for mock assessments and final exams to encourage working on lots of different faces in readiness for industry.

As in a professional environment, students will be expected to give our clients and models the highest possible customer care and portray a professional image; you'll be required to wear a Make-up Artists uniform whilst in the workshops, this uniform will reflect the current requirements for industry.
There are supplementary costs for material, books, course trips and visits. Financial assistance may be available. Please enquire at Student Services.
Students may also be required to source a week of relevant work experience, College will support with this process.

Entry Requirements
Typical Entry Criteria
Gloucestershire College welcome any other/combinations of relevant qualifications that are comparable and/or equivalent to the typical course entry requirements.
Applicants that do not have recognised qualifications may still meet course entry requirements through alternative methods of assessment at the College’s discretion.

A full level 2 qualification in the relevant subject must be completed
Any relevant Level 2 qualification must be translatable to the current qualification structure delivered and verified by the College

Make-Up Lessons are offered by Ailyn Waterman Makeup and Hair Studio for all skill level. Enjoy a professional makeup masterclass from one of the industry’s leading makeup artists. Makeup tutorials for all ages on how to enhance your best features and experiment with new and exciting products.
Small classes, with lots of one-to-one teaching time, resulting in an accelerated learning process
This course prepares anyone wanting to enter the professional bridal makeup industry. Throughout this course you will learn all the techniques needed to create an array of different bridal looks.
All lessons are hands on lessons. Louise will demonstrate on one half of your face and your will replicate each step on the other half.
