A manicure and pedicure are beauty treatments for the hands and feet, respectively. These treatments involve various steps and techniques to enhance the appearance and health of the nails, cuticles, and skin. Manicures and pedicures are commonly offered in beauty salons, spas, and nail salons, and they are enjoyed by people of all genders.

The first step in a manicure is to remove any existing nail polish. Once the nails are clean, the manicurist will proceed to shape them. This can be done using a nail file to achieve the desired length, shape, and style. Common nail shapes include square, oval, round, almond, and stiletto.

After shaping the nails, the manicurist will work on the cuticles. The cuticles are the thin, transparent skin that surrounds the base of the nail. They protect the nails from infection. The cuticles are gently pushed back using a cuticle pusher or an orangewood stick. This step helps to create a clean, neat appearance and prepares the nails for the next stage.

The first step in a pedicure is to soak the feet in warm water. This helps to soften the skin, relax the muscles, and prepare the feet for the following steps. Some salons may add salts, oils, or aromatic substances to the foot soak for added relaxation and rejuvenation.

After soaking, the pedicurist will proceed to remove any existing nail polish from the toenails, similar to the manicure process. Next, the nails are trimmed and shaped using a nail clipper and a nail file.
