Course Details

The Mechanical Engineering Technician – Non-Destructive Evaluation (fast-track) program is designed specifically for applicants with existing academic credentials.

Students with a degree in a related field can expand their knowledge of the non-destructive evaluation (NDE) industry and complete an advanced diploma in just two semesters.

Students will learn about materials and specific testing methods in order to examine structures and components such as cars, trains, airplanes, spacecraft, towers, bridges, ships, power plants and amusement park rides to name a few to identify and analyze possible defects.

In addition to gaining hands-on experience during the program, graduates may be eligible to receive the training certificates required for NDT personnel qualification.

Admission Requirements

To be considered for the fast-track (credit transfer) pathway a specific educational background is required as follows:

  • Degree or diploma in either mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science or physics completed within the last five years
  • One post-secondary physics course
  • One post-secondary calculus course
  • One post-secondary statistics course
  • One post-secondary electricity course
  • Proof of English Language Proficiency 
  • Additional information may be requested to demonstrate practical lab experience

Domestic applicants that are 19 years of age or older as of the start date of their program, and who do not have the required program credit(s) i.e., Grade 12 English and/or Grade 12 math are eligible to take an admissions assessment test.
