Whether speaking to an audience of one thousand or of one, drama acting students at Boogaloo Academy learn to express themselves with confidence, clarity and honesty.

Our dedicated faculty is committed to the personal growth of each student; to teaching them skills in self-discovery, self-acceptance and self-expression which will serve them well on stage or in life.

Using games, exercises and scene work, students will explore new skills in movement, speech, improvisation and characterization.

Above all else, they will learn to explore their own creativity, and to have fun expressing it.

  • Missy has been teaching dance for over 20 years. She began her career in Prince George where she studied ballet, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, musical theatre. She received her R.A.D Advanced 2 certificate at the age of 16 while dancing the lead role of Clara in the Production of the Nutcracker alongside the Prince George Symphony Orchestra and Ballet BC Alumni Edmund Kilpatrick. As a Provincial Rep she has been awarded runner up in ballet in 1997 and won the jazz and stage category in 1998. Since moving to Vancouver Missy has partnered with choreographer Paul Becker dancing in movies such as Josie and the Pussy Cats, and Life or Something Like it, starring Angelina Jolie. She has also worked with Chris Kattan as a dance stunt double in the film Totally Awesome and has done a National commercials for Macy’s. She has worked on the TV show American Dreams with Brittany Snow. She has also taken two large groups to dance in California at Disneyland choreographing the jazz and stage show alongside for Douglas Ballet Academy . Missy is a passionate teacher and taught for Dance Collective, formerly Douglas Ballet Academy for 18 years building the jazz programme. Her choreography has won many awards in Competitions and has students that have gone on to dance in ballet and jazz companies and some have also become dance instructors. She specializes in teaching jazz, contemporary stage and lyrical, but also teaches ballet, and pointe, youth tap and musical theatre.

Musical Theatre (Age 7-12 Years Old)

Our musical theatre classes run in two terms, for 1.5 to 2 hours a week (depending on the age ranges of each class). There are also additional sessions scheduled throughout the year (on Saturdays or Sundays, TBC) to assist in bringing the performances together as required.
