During this 1-day workshop, students will learn the basics of nature photography. We will discuss the importance of light, textures, and compositions. Long exposure and other techniques will be practiced to achieve results that step away from the traditional photos of nature.
Students will use all types of cameras, including phone cameras, to explore the tropical landscape on Lincoln Road, the beach with the ocean and its vegetation, and other possibilities of nature photography.
The goal is to learn the many possibilities a camera or a phone offer to create images that steer away from the traditional nature photos. We will talk about technical aspects, the role of light at different times of the day as well as how to explore textures, and the difference between horizontal and vertical compositions.
A few photos per student will be selected, shared, and reviewed with the group after the practices.
Three decades ago, our founder, potter Ellie Schneiderman, sought affordable work spaces for our city’s visual artists. Today, Oolite Arts continues Schneiderman’s mission, to, as she said, “help artists help themselves.”
We are both a community and a resource, providing artists with the free studio space, exhibition opportunities, direct support and programming they need to advance their careers.
We will act like tourists in our own city capturing landmarks and exploring hidden places and spaces as well. Students will create postcard-worthy images of our favorite city, Boston! Please note this class is 10-2pm, Tuesday, Wed and Thursday.
We offer one-on-one, personal photography tutoring in digital photography, including capturing images with Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic, and Fuji digital cameras including DSLR cameras, professional and "pro-sumer" grade and point-and-shoot cameras.
These classes build from a basic introduction of the camera and its controls to the concepts and settings that determine exposure and focus.
Receive personalized tips, advice, and corrections from our professionals through one-on-one photography classes.
Join us for this 2-hour iPhone photography class and make the most of your iOS device. You will no longer have to worry about blurry or boring photos. Everyone will be asking you to take theirs!
