I was associated with her for a year and produced nearly 25 students with varying age of 17 to 64. Strengthened by this experience, I started my very own cooking class “Sam’s Culinary Art Class”.
I have produced 800 students among who was a special student aged 64 from Holland, who learned our traditional Tiffin varieties. I also feel proud for having NRI student and a culinary trainer from Ireland, Mrs. BANU. I am Mrs. M. Vahitha Jeevanandam, With the blessings of the almighty, Sam’s Culinary Art Class is entering into its Seventh successful year with satisfied students and clients. The growth of Sam’s fills me with awe and wonder. The bloom of Sam’s was just a half an hour decision - a sudden switch over from SmartSmile(2012-2013) to Sam’s Culinary Art Class(2013 established) with a wonderfully talented and smart group of around 170 students. Even today, I can’t believe my journey from being a Computer Science student and an Assistant Professor in a renowned college for more than a decade, to becoming a person running this successful institute.
Though my work was in to Computer Science, I always had a thirst for Cooking and Baking. This led me to have a fondness for trying out many dishes from various parts of the world, making my family and friends, the tasters. I have never felt lazy to cook.
My eagerness to learn different cuisines and watching varieties of cookery shows on TV made me an ardent learner of cooking and baking. Every woman’s first inspiration is her mom. I grew up watching my mom try out new recipes frequently. One particular Diwali stays fresh in my memories. My mom prepared 25 varieties of sweets and savories including a rainbow colored cake with butter icing - all done with a help of MIXER and a COOKER. For every Diwali, she prepares “Thala curry “i.e., goat‘s head curry, idly and dosa.
For as long as I can remember, every Sunday meal cooked by my mom would be different, with a variety that I have neither eaten nor tasted in any other home or hotel. “Variety” was the mantra for every meal in my family. This made me crazy about cooking. I got a chance to learn multi cuisine cooking from GUNAVARSHA catering services, BESANTNAGAR, Chennai, 2002. My Chef was young, friendly and patient enough to teach us (four friends, with only me finishing the course fully) and make us understand the basic things right from aromas secrets, tastes of every single spices, cereals and pulses.
Indian Sweets class teaches you the different types of sweet dishes that are very famous in India. The best part is that when you have this course, you can make all the food items easily at home.
