This class is suitable for beginners who have no previous pattern drafting or sewing experience.
In the booking calendar, you'll have three options:
• 1x 3hr Session
For Pattern Making only, or for those who want to pay as they go
• 4x 3hr Sessions (12 hrs total)
For those wanting to progress into sewing the garment after creating the pattern.
If you select this one, please book your first session via the booking calendar and we'll book the remaining three at the shop.
• 7x 3hr Sessions (21 hrs total)
For those with more complex garments or multiple garments

Previous sewing experience and knowledge of commercial patterns is recommended before starting your pattern making journey, this will give you a head-start when you begin the pattern making process, as you'll have some understanding of what a pattern actually is, before making your own.
If you have no sewing/pattern experience, we recommend coming to our Sewing For Beginners class first, followed by at least one of our Intro To Garment Making classes to make shorts or a wrap.
Depending on the garment you bring, you may require further sessions to complete the pattern/sewing.

Our story began in 2018 in a small studio inside 107 Projects on Redfern St. With only a table and one sewing machine, our first class was published and we didn't look back. Since that first day.

Not confident about your machine? Then come and learn how to use it. Eg: altering tensions; using different stitches and feet. Gain the confidence you will need to make a garment. BYO sewing machine with foot control and power cord to class, and all materials.
These classes, instructed by Helena Kinnunen, are an introduction to upholstery sewing during which time students will make or recover their own cushions. It is suitable for beginner to intermediate skill level.
We offer patchwork one on one lessons from our home studio. All you need to do is bring your fabric, and we supply the rest.
You are welcome to bring in your cut garments ready to sew. If you need help reading a pattern & cutting it out we can cover that too. Bring in your own domestic sewing machine to the class and start learning & improving now!
This is a fun quilt to make if you enjoy playing with color. Each leaf can be as individual as you want to create it. Again, this would be a good candidate for those who have a stash that needs using. Some experience necessary.
