Our students love learning how to play the piano at Music Education Centre because they’re able to progress quickly. From playing a recognisable tune after the first lesson to learning up to 20 pieces of music after a year.
Parents tell us they love their children playing the piano because they can see how enriching it is. From the improved attention spans to the increased confidence. They also love having a musical home with their children putting on musical performances for friends and family. It’s also a great release for children who are feeling stressed or anxious.
Learning to play the piano really is a wonderful way to discover the power of music and all it has to offer.
We’ve been teaching music lessons in Auckland since 1981.
We’re passionate about what we do and the benefits that learning to play a musical instrument provides.
Our specialist lessons are for children as young as 3-and-a-half. We offer one-on-one lessons for children over 7, as well as for teens and adults. These lessons are adapted to each student’s ability and to the style of music they’d like to learn.
We offer music lessons designed for fun or to help prepare students for taking an exam.
We help students prepare for internationally recognised music exams from organisations like Rockschool, the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, and Trinity College
When it comes to teaching music, particularly to children, there are some things we firmly believe:
Kinder Keys is the only course of its kind in New Zealand! A fun piano-based group course incorporating singing, dancing, percussion & tuned instruments.
The piano is a fantastic basic instrument from which students can easily move onto other instruments later: it requires reading of both treble and bass staves and has the largest note-range.
Not only do students get expert tutoring on a weekly basis we also provide opportunities for our students to collaborate with each other to create a live performance. The show is then performed at a public venue. Groups include choir, guitar ensemble, percussion group and bands.
