Starting with rough hewn boards, students move through all the main machines in the shop. We cover jointing, planing and spend a good amount of time on the table saw.
Starting with rough hewn boards, students move through all the main machines in the shop. We cover jointing, planing and spend a good amount of time on the table saw.
In fact, if the table saw is where you want to up your game, look no further than this class! Your fears and hesitations will be addressed. We’ll dive deep into safety and hand positions. You’ll learn how to choose the right blade for the job, cut tapers and use the dado blades.
You will become a master of refinement as we walk through set ups to cut half lap and bridle joints. Concepts learned here can be used to improve your accuracy at any of the machines. You will set up all machines after demonstrations, so you remember how. These are extremely small classes and emphasis is placed on learning by doing.
I’ve had a long career in making custom furniture. I had (and still have) great clients, but after a teaching gig in Brooklyn and a few years of teaching private lessons, I realized I was happiest when sharing my skills.
In the summer of 2019 I moved my shop to American St. to make teaching my primary focus. Classes are designed to mimic how small run production shops move through their projects. There is a heavy emphasis on design and I push students to see strategies and methods that they can apply to any project.
The main focus of the first course is learning how to use power and hand tools properly and safely. Classes are meant for any adult interested in pursuing wood furniture design and woodworking as a hobby or potential career.
This course is designed for the beginning wood turner. All students receive demonstrations on how to prepare a wood blank for spindle turning, how to glue up wood properly for success during turning, machine and tool vocabulary and safety
Pour your very own Coasters using domestic or exotic woods and epoxy resin! You will learn the techniques of preparing the wood, building molds, leak control and epoxy mixing, tinting and pouring
This is the course designed for people with no prior woodworking experience. Through discussion and hands on experience you will learn about the steps necessary to begin with a rough piece of wood and finish with a small table of your own design. The class will meet for six weekly sessions.
Loved one of our classes and ready to take your woodworking skills to the next level? Join us in the woodshop to make a one-of-a-kind board that’s all about creativity and craftsmanship.
