DurationPointe work is at the discretion of the teacher - the student must be at a certain level of ballet and they must be strong enough technically. The proper alignment and foot/ankle strength must be achieved before entering Pointe work.

Introducing Coastal Dance Company - St. John's newest dance studio owned and operated by Melissa Maynard Power and Katie Yetman. Conveniently located on Stavanger Drive! With over 15 years teaching experience in styles such as: Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern/Contemporary, Hip Hop, Pointe and Exam Classes.
We want to give our students the best experience possible. For this reason, we will strive to provide as much exposure to different choreographers through a variety of workshops and performances throughout the dance year. Our ballet teen classes provide a unique opportunity for teens and pre-teens who want to train in ballet but have limited or no experience in the discipline.
Adults are welcome to train in pointe class regardless of their experience, but must be patient about progress – pointe shoes may only be purchased and practiced in once the teacher deems it safe.
Ballet is a classical dance form demanding grace and precision. Ballet is the key ingredient of a dancer’s training. It increases body awareness, posture, strength and balance. It also teaches the dancer focus, discipline and determination.
Pointe does not begin at any specific age or level, but depends on the strength of students. It is a technique associated with Ballet that involves balance and being able to support all of your weight on the tips of fully extended feet.
Ballet classes are offered by Clark Dance Production. Our recreational programming classes are all taught by experienced, adult instructors with extensive training and education in the field of dance instruction! We take pride in providing quality dance classes for all levels!
