Studio Artemis was established in 2008 by Director and Clay Artist Kristin Miller. The studio was named after the Hellenic goddess of the moon, wild animals and wilderness. The Temple of Artemis in Turkey was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
And became a safe refuge for many requiring sanctuary from the perils of life. Like its fore bearer Studio Artemis provides a supportive and nurturing space for people wanting to explore.
And experiment within the creative realm. Due to immense popularity the studio has continued to expand since its inception and relocated to a new and larger site in Huntingdale, Melbourne at the end of 2014.
Our pottery classes are held weekly withĀ this new term running forĀ sevenĀ weeks (instead of our usual eight weeks due to potentially moving studios!!), covering all the skills required to bring a ball of clay to life on the potter's wheel
NDIS classes are held in Fiona'sĀ home studio.Ā Classes are one on one and run for approximately 1.5 hours (negotiable).Ā Morning / Afternoon tea supplied.Ā Students work on a range of projects suited to their abilities and interests.
The session will start with a safety briefing and chat about the process, followed by a quick demonstration of throwing a pot on the wheel. You will then get to jump on the wheel yourself and get stuck into centringĀ clay, pulling the walls and shaping your very own ceramic pieces!
Clay is such a versatile material, you can create anything you want with it. If you want to get into pottery but desire something a little more creative and inspiring than plain pottery, then this is the class for you.Ā Ā
An 8 week class for beginners and those with experience. Try your hand at hand building or wheel throwing . All clay, firing and glazes
