Stemming from our love of food, travel and adventure, Mangia DC Food Tours was established in 2013 as a locally owned and operated small culinary tour business.

Learn how the bean to bar process works (and make a batch of your own chocolate, from cacao beans to bar) and create perfect craft chocolate and candy bars. A complete education in the science and history of chocolate making will be covered, as well as how to create a craft chocolate operation.

We start with a fine Belgian couverture chocolate tasting. Students are taught the difference between the various types of chocolate and cocoa powder and all those confusing percentages that appear on the chocolate bar wrappers are explained.
Ornament Workshop is a fun workshop where you will learn how to use a two sided mold filled with chocolate. You will also learn how to dust and decorate your ornament using different techniques.
Learn about bean to bar chocolate. Sample chocolate varieties and learn to taste the subtle differences. Students will finish the the class by tempering chocolate and making their own bar.
